Projects

We have dredged material using a 4 inch hydraulic trash pump feeding a 6 inch Gorman-Rupp from a closed containment pond and pumped the material over a 1000ft to a settling pond to be removed later.  We have jetted in outfall and geothermal pipes on a regular basis.  

The largest project conducted to date was diver dredging a PCB clean up. Using an 8 inch hydraulic pump and pumping material 1km to a settling pond.  This project lasted over a year with the bulk of the diving lasting 3.5 months.

North Pacific supported the construction of the Johnston St. bridge in Victoria, BC.  A week was spent welding guides for the floating fender system.  These channels had to be precisely fit to hold grout when the project was finished.

Projects undertaken in the last 6 months we have cut 2 inch anchor chain and added replacements jumper chains for safety. As well as installing new anchor chains for BC Ferry terminal floating leads.

 
Welding and Cutting underwater projects are a part of regular work for NPD.

Using a hard wired video system with two way surface communications the diver can survey anything underwater.  This can be done while the top side crew, with any company representative, views from the surface and directs the camera for clear, complete and accurate inspections.

North Pacific has a long history of servicing their loyal clients at all hours.  Clients do not experience long down times with a quick response and high quality crews.  Calls throughout the year are as varied as rope fouled in propellers, clearing obstructions from BC Ferry thrusters, and vessels sinking. 

As part of ongoing maintenance work it is required on occasion to enter a confined space using breathing apparatus for safety in order to conduct an inspection or repair.  As all jobs require a a complete hazard analysis before work can start these jobs have hidden hazards that must be flushed out and background knowledge is important in order to carry out these projects safely.

Since 1989 North Pacific Divers has been working with clients to service their industrial needs.  Annual projects include traveling screens, outfalls, mechanical gate maintenance, Hydro dam inspections, etc.  Just about anything that is underwater and needs maintenance we have installed, or repaired.
